D'Appolonia is experienced in leading technical teams in third world countries for assignments such as monitoring contractor compliance with environmental and other programmatic committments for large construction projects. Our experience also includes leading a technical team responsible for assessing the extent of damage resulting from a large earthquake in Colombia and developing regional plans for disposal of the refuse resulting from the earthquake. We have the expertise to address the technical issues as well as other aspects such as sociologic and economic concerns. Our experience with this type of work includes projects in Asia, Africa and South and Central America.

Management Planning for Earthquake Demolition Debris (PDF-320K)

D’Appolonia developed a master plan for the management and recycling of demolition debris from a large earthquake in Colombia. Our personnel visited more than 50 emergency landfill sites and developed procedures and costs for remediation of these sites to acceptable standards. Recycling of the debris to create aggregate for construction was a key component of our debris management plan.
